This exhibition of approximately 125 paintings, sculptures, and works on paper celebrated the generous gifts of 361 works of art given to the Albright-Knox by A. Conger Goodyear. A comprehensive exhibition of these works had not been presented at the museum since 1966. Goodyear served on the Board of Directors of The Buffalo Fine Arts Academy — the parent organization of the museum — from 1912 until he moved to New York in 1928. He was a member of the Board (1912-1914 and 1916-1928); Secretary (1912); Treasurer (1922); and Vice-President (1925-1928).

During his tenure, Goodyear was instrumental in the formation of the museum’s collection of modern art. Some of the most important works in the collection came the museum through his donations or bequest: Balla's Dynamism of Dog on a Leash, 1912; Dali's The Transparent Simulacrum of the Feigned Image, 1938; Gauguin's Spirit of the Dead Watching, 1892; and van Gogh’s The Old Mill. Also included in the exhibition were sculptures by modern artists such as Calder, Noguchi, and Maillol, as well as rarely exhibited works on paper by Degas, Miro, and Picasso.

This exhibition was organized by Senior Curator Cheryl Brutvan.
