Exhibition | Featured Electric Op Friday, September 27, 2024–Monday, January 27, 2025 Inspired by the AKG’s renowned collection of postwar art, Electric Op is a major historical survey that traces the enduring influence of Op art on the last six decades of electronic art and culture. Exhibition Quiet Elegance: A Remarkable Bequest Friday, July 26, 2024–Monday, February 24, 2025 In 2023, an anonymous donor bequeathed to the Buffalo AKG a group of artworks by some of the most prominent artists of the mid-twentieth century. A self-described "friend of the museum," this individual was a vital intellect who brought beauty into everyone's life through a deep knowledge of art, literature, music, and opera. Quiet Elegance: A Remarkable Bequest supports the museum's goal to share recent acquisitions through an ongoing series of exhibitions. Exhibition Wayfinding Friday, July 12, 2024–Friday, October 17, 2025 Wayfinding is a meditative installation of forty-eight sculptural signs placed throughout the grounds of Delaware Park and the Buffalo AKG campus. Through a combination of evocative and lyrical prose and archival images, Bass’s sculptures encourage moments of private reflection in public space. Exhibition | Featured Marisol: A Retrospective Friday, July 12, 2024–Monday, January 6, 2025 Marisol (Venezuelan and American, born France, 1930–2016) remains perhaps the most intriguing and least understood artist associated with Pop Art. By examining and contextualizing her work over its long arc from the 1950s to the early 2000s, this internationally touring retrospective, the most comprehensive survey of her work ever assembled, demonstrates the extraordinary relevance of Marisol’s unique vision of culture and society. Exhibition | Closing Soon Before and After Again Friday, March 8, 2024–Monday, October 14, 2024 Before and After Again is an exhibition of artwork, prose, and poetry by the Buffalo-based artists and cultural producers Julia Bottoms, Tiffany Gaines, and Jillian Hanesworth. Their works respond to the tragic slaying of ten Buffalo residents on May 14, 2022, at the Tops Friendly Market on Jefferson Avenue in Buffalo, New York.
