Community Resources and Feedback

The Buffalo AKG Art Museum unequivocally supports the fight for civil rights; the struggle for racial and social equity; and the right for people to live free from fear of violence, discrimination, and hate speech.

Systemic racial discrimination, bias, and prejudice need immediate, substantive action. We join our community in demanding justice and accountability for all those who have been impacted by racist policies, actions, and rhetoric.

We stand in solidarity with protesters, activists, and people from all walks of life who are committed to combating racism in all its forms. We are dedicated as an institution to addressing our own biases, listening to and learning from our community, and supporting the advancement of civil rights. Black Lives Matter. Stop Asian Hate.

Please note: Some of these community resources were inspired by Swoon: Seven Contemplations, on view at Albright-Knox Northland September 26, 2020–January 10, 2021. Swoon infuses often difficult aspects of her personal journey with a spirit of generosity to offer a model of how pushing through the discomfort of challenges may lead toward healing. We hope these resources will encourage visitors on their own personal journeys. For further resources, please see The Heliotrope Foundation and Swoon's personal bibliography for healing and mindfulness.
