Featuring more than eight hundred works of sculpture by 168 contemporary American artists, Exhibition of Contemporary American Sculpture was the most comprehensive exhibition of its kind at the time.

This exhibition, also referred to as the first Local Salon, was the first comprehensive survey of contemporary artists working in Buffalo.

From January 4 to 26, 1913, the Albright Art Gallery hosted the exhibition Contemporary Scandinavian Art. It was presented “under the gracious patronage” of His Majesty Gustav V, King of Sweden; His Majesty Christian X, King of Denmark; and His Majesty Haakon VII, King of Norway.

This was the first exhibition held at an American museum that aimed to elevate photography’s stature from a purely scientific pursuit to a visual form of artistic expression.
