Museum Archives and Special Collections
The Buffalo AKG Art Museum’s Archives and Special Collections include the official records of the museum’s governing body, the Buffalo Fine Arts Academy; documentation of artist interviews conducted by the Buffalo AKG; and special collections of archival material donated to the museum by artists, collectors, and others.
The term archival material denotes records that are preserved for their enduring legal, administrative, and/or historical value. Archival records may be in any format, and archival collections can include letters, postcards, meeting minutes, notebooks, typescripts, drafts, photographs, video recordings, audio recordings, and more.
For further information on the Museum’s Archives and Special Collections, please see below.
Our collections management team, including our Archivist, are currently redeveloping our system for receiving and responding to requests for Images and Research regarding our collections, exhibitions, programs, and institutional history. We are unable to accept new queries at this time.
For requests submitted prior to May 26, 2026, please allow a period of approximately twelve weeks to receive a response from our Collections Management Team.
Thank you very much for your patience and interest.
Special Archival Collections
