Museum Archives and Special Collections

The Buffalo AKG Art Museum’s Archives and Special Collections include the official records of the museum’s governing body, the Buffalo Fine Arts Academy; documentation of artist interviews conducted by the Buffalo AKG; and special collections of archival material donated to the museum by artists, collectors, and others.

The term archival material denotes records that are preserved for their enduring legal, administrative, and/or historical value. Archival records may be in any format, and archival collections can include letters, postcards, meeting minutes, notebooks, typescripts, drafts, photographs, video recordings, audio recordings, and more.

The museum’s Archives and Special Collections are available by appointment to docents, students, scholars, university and college faculty, and others in the community with advanced research needs. To schedule an appointment, please contact Archivist Gabrielle Carlo at 716.270.8275 or gcarlo@buffaloakg.org.

Due to our building of the Buffalo AKG Art Museum, please allow one to two weeks for a response to your request.
