Gregory Kucera
American, born 1974
This photograph was originally part of a larger work by Gregory Kucera that also incorporated video and sculpture. A four-monitor installation presented the four sides of a downtown Los Angeles intersection, showing the constant parade of passing cars and pedestrians. There were also photographs such as this one, in which Kucera extracted the color information from the video, then stretched and blurred it to create highly abstract, linear compositions. While the entire installation reflected Kucera’s interest in information overload, the individual photographs evoke quite a different mood.
