Joan Miró
Spanish, 1893-1983
Following his first solo exhibition in 1948 with Galerie Maeght in Paris, Joan Miró began experimenting more with color lithography. In 1953, to celebrate his sixtieth birthday, he executed nine original lithographs; Day is part of this group of works. Central to this composition is a bright red circle, no doubt the sun, which glows bright with an orange-yellow halo surrounding it.
