Nassos Daphnis: Work Since 1951, an exhibition of fifty-six paintings, sculpture, and constructions, opened in March. An influential figure in geometric painting, a number of the artist's recent large-scale works in primary colors were shown, as well as earlier works illustrating the development of his color and design theories. The exhibition was organized by Robert M. Murdock, Gallery Curator, and was later shown at the Everson Museum of Art, Syracuse, New York.

Nassos Daphnis (1914–2010) was a Greek-born American painter, sculptor, and horticulturist, who was best known for his mastery of geometric abstraction. In his works, he favored clean, sharp, and brilliantly colored forms in precise formal relationships to create dynamic artworks on a heroic scale. He had his first solo exhibition at the Contemporary Arts Gallery in New York City in 1938 and in 1969, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery (now Buffalo AKG Art Museum) held this retrospective exhibition.

The exhibition also traveled to the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse, New York, from May 1 to June 29, 1969.
