The Buffalo AKG Art Museum recently opened Hi-Vis, an exhibition that celebrates many of the artists who have worked with the Buffalo AKG’s Public Art Initiative in its first ten years. Artists on view include Julia Bottoms, FUTURA 2000, Maya Hayuk, Logan Hicks, Jun Kaneko, Monet Kifner, Shantell Martin, Louise Jones, Felipe Pantone, Pat Perry, and Edreys Wajed.

The Buffalo AKG Art Museum announced that Steina: Playback, the first solo exhibition of Steina’s work in more than a decade, will open at the museum on March 14 and will remain on view through June 30, 2025.

The Buffalo AKG Art Museum announced new special event to mark the close of Before and After Again, a landmark exhibition that responds to the tragic slaying of ten members of Buffalo’s Black community on May 14, 2022. Experience aweinspiring musical presentations by award winners, competition winners, and some of the most talented artists, composers, and arrangers in jazz. Organized and produced by Tony Zambito, the Art of Jazz series features iconic jazz musicians who have left an indelible mark on the world of jazz.

The Buffalo AKG Art Museum announced that submissions for the 28th annual Art Alive celebration are open until September 13. Art Alive will occur on Saturday, October 19, from noon to 2 pm, and invites participants to create living representations of famous works of art for great prizes. 

More than 300 artworks have been acquired since May 2023, including 178 artworks from the Marisol Bequest.

The Buffalo AKG announced that the museum’s studio art classes for the fall season are now open for registration. Adult classes include live figure drawing and painting, landscape painting with watercolors, clay wheel throwing, and an introduction to stitching. Kids’ classes include building with clay, fun with fibers, and an introduction to making Op art.

Featuring more than 100 works by nearly ninety artists, this major exhibition draws on Buffalo AKG's leading collection of Op art to illuminate the origins of electronic art and culture.
