In this drop-in artmaking workshop, Hi-Vis artist Karle Norman will be showing participants of any skill level the basic concepts of leatherwork. This workshop aims to break down a complex process into achievable small steps that anyone can do in the correct order. We will also teach participants how to safely use the tools to empower them to learn more on their own about this historic craft if they choose to. Norman learned from someone who showed him some simple concepts and then he took off on his own, using free tutorial videos to grow his skills.

Participants will take away a key fob, coaster, or bookmark that they have stamped, dyed, and riveted!

Hi-Vis is an invitational survey exhibition that celebrates the artists who have worked with the Buffalo AKG’s Public Art Initiative in its first ten years of existence. While you may recognize the works of these artists found throughout the region, you might not know the depth, the breadth, and the variety of art practices they embrace. Hi-Vis allows us to look closely and engage deeply with the practices behind the public art.
