For the fourth year in a row, we are proud to announce our #ArtMadness social media campaign. The competition, which originated in 2014 and was modeled after the NCAA March Madness basketball tournament, first consisted of a social media–based voting competition between works in the Albright-Knox’s collection. In 2015 and 2016, we expanded the campaign to include works from 16 museums across the U.S. and Canada.
Our fourth annual #ArtMadness competition will highlight the importance of women artists in conjunction with Women’s History Month and the social media campaign #5WomenArtists, created by the National Museum of Women in the Arts, which kicks off on March 1, 2017. Art Madness 2017 will run from March 14 to April 3, 2017, and include four works from the National Museum of Women in the Arts among a selection of 16 total works by women artists. This year’s competition features works from:
Albright-Knox Art Gallery
Blanton Museum of Art
Clark Art Institute
Georgia Museum of Art
Honolulu Museum of Art
Memorial Art Gallery
Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, Florida
National Museum of Women in the Arts
Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives
Portland Art Museum
San Diego Museum of Art
Toledo Museum of Art
Wichita Art Museum
We invite you to download and fill out the 2017 bracket and post a photo of it tagged with #ArtMadness. If you post your completed bracket before March 14 and your winner is correct at the end of the competition, you will win an Albright-Knox prize pack. Follow #ArtMadness all month as our competitors prepare to face off starting March 14, then cast your votes on Facebook and Twitter for your favorite artworks. Women for the win!
