Digital Assets Collection

The Buffalo AKG Art Museum currently cares for and manages an ever-growing collection of more than 375,000 born-digital and digitized assets in various formats. The primary function of the museum’s Digital Assets Collection is to create, collect, present, and interpret physical and digital items for historic preservation and distribution. Items in the Digital Assets Collection represent the history of the museum and document its collectionsexhibitionsevents, and leaders.

For further information on obtaining and using images of artworks within the museum’s Fine Art Collection or images of our buildings, programs, exhibitions, leaders, and historical materials, please see our Obtaining and Using Images guidelines.

Our collections management team, including members of our Imaging and Visual Resources Department, are currently redeveloping our system for receiving and responding to requests for Images and Research regarding our collections, exhibitions, programs, and institutional history. We are unable to accept new queries at this time.

For requests submitted prior to May 226, 2026, please allow a period of approximately twelve weeks to receive a response from our Collections Management Team.

Thank you very much for your patience and interest.
