Volunteers are needed for various roles, including the examples below, and more! Detailed duties for each role are found in event postings on Volunteer Hub. Volunteer shifts are generally between 1.5–2 hours long. Most shifts are standing positions, but seating can always be provided upon request.

• Greeting visitors when they enter the museum
• Offering surveys to visitors before leaving
• Acting as ushers for lectures and concerts
• Assisting in the studios with drop-in art activities

Buffalo AKG volunteers come from a range of backgrounds and interests and are united by their passion for art and people. Anyone 16 years of age and older are welcome to apply, including students needing to complete community service hours for school.  

New volunteers are accepted on a rolling basis, and orientations are held regularly. After attending orientation and agreeing to program policies, volunteers create and manage their own schedules through the Buffalo AKG Volunteer Hub website.  

Volunteers do not conduct tours at the museum, that duty belongs to our docents. If you are interested in giving tours at the museum, please visit our docent webpage or reach out to docent@ buffaloakg.org.

Although we would love to see each volunteer at the museum often, there is no minimum requirement for hours. Opportunities vary and are offered during museum operating hours on weekdays and weekends. In gratitude for the time given over the course of each year, volunteers become eligible to earn museum membership and the benefits that come with it.

Admission
Volunteers will have free access to the museum during operating hours on days they volunteer. They will also enjoy free access to any events they volunteer for, once their shift is complete.

Membership
Volunteers who complete 30 hours of service within one year of their orientation date will receive an Individual membership valid for one year. 

Birthdays
Volunteers receive 15% off one transaction in the Shop and one transaction in Cornelia or Sculpture Bar the week of their birthday.
