Impressionism to Surrealism: European Paintings from the Albright-Knox Art Gallery

As the exhibition title suggests, the Albright-Knox’s collection includes a significant selection of paintings dating from the late 19th century to the middle of the 20th century. Among the outstanding works included in the exhibition are Cezanne's Pool at the Jas de Boufan, ca.1876-79; van Gogh's The Old Mill, 1888; Gauguin's The Yellow Christ, 1889; Matisse's La Musique, 1939; and Dali's The Transparent Simulacrum of the Feigned Image, 1938.

Organized in cooperation with the Tokyo Shimbun, more than 60 of the Albright-Knox’s most treasured European works were on view at the museum before traveling to Japan, where they were presented at four museums: the Isetan Museum of Art, Tokyo; Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art, Nagoya; Hiroshima Museum of Art; and the Museum of Modern Art, Ibaraki, Mito.
