Jorge Pardo
American, born Cuba, 1963
Infusing the aesthetics of modern design into his creative practice, Jorge Pardo explores the social dynamics of public and private space by merging art with everyday life. Pardo consistently creates works at the intersection of art, architecture, and design by transforming elements of domestic architecture into seductive sculptural forms. Untitled is part of a series of large-scale paintings, each one composed of various screen-printed MDF panels. The work, somewhere between a painting and a sculpture, epitomizes Pardo’s creative credo, summed up by his statement that “a lot of the pleasure in reading something is misreading it.”
