Originally organized by Priscilla Colt for The Dayton Art Institute, Color and Field, 1890–1970 was the first extensive exhibition to include historical antecedents of contemporary Color Field painters. After its presentation at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, the exhibition traveled to The Dayton Art Institute and the Cleveland Museum of Art in Ohio.
