About the Performers

Mark Filsinger is a versatile trumpet performer, composer, and educator based in Western New York. He serves as Associate Professor of Music at Buffalo State University and Artistic Director of the not-for-profit, Buffalo Jazz Collective. In addition to performing regularly with many local and national touring groups and artists, Filsinger leads several jazz groups, including the Mark Filsinger Chamber Big Band. His groups have been invited to perform for many festivals, cultural institutions, and schools, such as The Jazz Education Network Conference in Orlando, Queen City Jazz Festival, Olcott Jazz Festival, Fredonia Jazz Festival, and Lewiston Jazz Festival. Filsinger has performed with internationally renowned jazz artists such as Ernie Watts, Don Menza, Pat LaBarbera, Steve Davis, Brad Leali, Brad Goode, and Bobby Militello. In 2022, Filsinger released the album Groovin’ High which has received significant international radio play and peaked at #22 on the NACC Jazz Chart.
