About The Freedom Wall
The Freedom Wall (working title) will depict portraits of 28 notable civil rights leaders in American history, past and present, on a large concrete wall at Michigan Avenue and East Ferry Street. The scale of the wall creates a unique opportunity to present a historical narrative that recognizes well-known national activists alongside equally important but less-widely-known local leaders. The work is being painted over the course of summer 2017 by Buffalo-based artists John Baker, Julia Bottoms, Chuck Tingley, and Edreys Wajed. Learn More
