Please join the Buffalo AKG Art Museum for a FREE community concert in partnership with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. Enjoy a summer evening outdoors with musical theater masterpieces, and watch the Great Lawn come to life for its first public program following the museum’s campus expansion and development project. Lawn chairs, blankets, and picnics are encouraged! 

Restrooms will be available for public use in the Seymour H. Knox Building during the concert. To enjoy the entire campus and collection, please arrive during the museum’s regularly scheduled hours of 10 am–5 pm.

Frequently Asked Questions 

 

Parking and Transportation

Unfortunately, the Buffalo AKG’s Parking Garage will be offline until later this summer.

Parking is available in Buffalo State University lots R-1 and R-2, which are within walking distance of the museum. A shuttle to the museum, generously provided by Forest Lawn Cemetery, will run from Buffalo State University lot G-20 (along Grant Street) and lots R-12 and R-13 (along Rockwell Road). The shuttle will run from 6 to 7:30 pm and from 8:30 to 10 pm. A map of the Buffalo State University campus can be found here.

Ridesharing and use of public transportation are also strongly encouraged. Bicycle parking is available outside of the Jeffrey E. Gundlach Building. The Buffalo AKG is not responsible for the security of bicycles or for lost or stolen property.  

Accessibility 

Accessible drop-off and limited parking will be available along the loop outside the Elmwood Entrance of the Seymour H. Knox Building. An ADA-accessible seating area will be available for the concert.

What time can I arrive to the Great Lawn? 
The concert begins at 7:05 pm, but you are welcome to set up early.

Will there be food and beverages?
Please bring your own food and beverages—picnics are encouraged! Complimentary ice cream will be available during the concert courtesy of M&T Bank. To receive your free treat, please visit the trucks parked along the Great Lawn. Limit one per person, while supplies last.

Can I bring my children?
This concert is for all ages.
 
Do you allow smoking?
Smoking and vaping are prohibited on museum grounds.  

Is the museum open? 
Doors on the West and East sides of the Knox building into the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Town Square are open for access to restrooms only from 7 to 9 pm. Additionally, there will be portable toilets outside. 
 
What are your policies regarding photo/video/audio?
Photographs without flash are permitted. No recording devices will be permitted.  In order to ensure a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for all visitors, the Buffalo AKG requests that no drones be flown above the museum’s campus.
