What is the Annual Meeting?
As a membership organization, The Buffalo Fine Arts Academy convenes its members each year for the purpose of electing directors to the Board of Directors and any other business properly brought before the membership. We look forward to this event each year so we can share with you some of the highlights of our past year and preview the many things we are looking forward to in the year to come. Thank you for being a member and for participating in this event!
Who are the Board of Directors?
As a non-profit organization, the museum is governed by a Board of Directors elected by the membership. Board members are recommended for election by the Governance Committee, voted on by the membership, and may serve up to two five-year terms. Board members are individuals and professionals from our local and global community who provide strategic guidance for the museum and ensure its long-term sustainability.

How does voting for Directors work?
Members in good standing may vote by proxy in advance of or in-person at the Annual Meeting. Proxy ballots are mailed to members at their address on record and must be returned by a date specified on the ballot. At the Annual Meeting, a proxy casts the votes collected from members who could not vote in-person and those results are combined with votes cast at the meeting. Candidates are elected to the Board for the term specified on the proxy ballot by a plurality of the votes cast at the Annual Meeting, in person or by proxy.
Who are the evening’s speakers for the 162nd Annual Meeting?
The evening’s speakers will include Alice Jacobs, Board President, Dr. Janne Sirén, Peggy Pierce Elfvin Director, as well as a special presentation by Patrick Bringley, author of All the Beauty in the World.
