The Eye’s Pop: Op Art from the Albright-Knox Art Gallery
Saturday, January 31, 1998–Sunday, April 12, 1998
University at Buffalo Anderson Gallery
The Eye's Pop: Op Art from the Albright-Knox Art Gallery included approximately 50 examples of Op Art that the Albright-Knox collected from 1962 to 1970. A popular form of abstraction, Op (as in optical) art wedded craftsmanship, science, and mathematics, resulting in rich paintings made to entertain, challenge, and confound the eye.
The exhibition celebrated the museum’s fine collection of Op art by such artists as Victor Vasarely, Bridget Riley, Jesús Rafael Soto, and Kuwayama Tadasuke.
The exhibition was presented at the Anderson Gallery, Martha Jackson Place, University at Buffalo, as some sections of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery were closed for renovation.
This exhibition was organized by Curator Marc Mayer.
