In this lecture, curator and art historian Henry Skerritt will describe the rise of contemporary Aboriginal art, from the emergence of the modern bark painting movement in 1911, through the emergence of Western Desert acrylic painting in the 1970s, culminating in the flourishing and diverse practices of the present.

In his talk, Dr. Dreishpoon will explore the relationship between these two artists and discuss the curatorial process for the special exhibitions Imperfections By Chance: Paul Feeley Retrospective, 1954–1966 and Giving Up One’s Mark: Helen Frankenthaler in the 1960s and 1970s.

This conversation, presented on the occasion of the opening of the special exhibition Giving Up One’s Mark: Helen Frankenthaler in the 1960s and 1970s, will focus on the artist’s career during the decades represented in the exhibition.

In this rare public lecture, Robert Wilson will talk about poignant moments from his career, the arc of his still-developing aesthetic, and some of his key projects.

Mirror | Mirror, this year’s massive summer celebration on Friday, June 20, was inspired by the return of Lucas Samaras’s Mirrored Room, 1966, to the Albright-Knox. 

On Saturday, November 8, the Albright-Knox hosted a special fundraiser celebrating the opening of two very special exhibitions: Giving up One's Mark: Helen Frankenthaler in the 1960s and 1970s and Imperfections By Chance: Paul Feeley Retrospective, 1954–1966.

On Friday, June 19, 2015, the Albright-Knox presented ANIMOTION, our massive summer celebration inspired by the exhibition Screen Play: Life in an Animated World. 

On Saturday, November 14, the Albright-Knox hosted Aurora Borealis, a gala in honor of the opening of Monet and the Impressionist Revolution, 1860–1910 and celebrating the landmark exhibitions Looking at Tomorrow: Light and Language from the Panza Collection, 1967–1990 and Eija-Liisa Ahtila: Ecologies of Drama.

At Art Alive 2017, participants create living representations of famous works of art for more than $1,000 in cash prizes.
