The Buffalo AKG Art Museum announced Hi-Vis, an upcoming exhibition that celebrates many of the artists who have worked with the Buffalo AKG’s Public Art Initiative in its first ten years. 

The Buffalo AKG Art Museum announced that the museum’s Public Art Initiative will collaborate on a new project with CEPA Gallery, Oxford Pennant, and artist Amy Fisher Price (American, born 1980). 

The Buffalo AKG Art Museum announced That Which Binds Us, a new exhibition of recently acquired artworks made using fabric and textiles that will be on view in the museum’s M&T Bank Gallery from Saturday, November 9, through Monday, May 12, 2025. Admission to the M&T Bank Gallery and the entire Seymour H. Knox Building is always free of charge. 

The Buffalo AKG Art Museum announced new special event to mark the close of Before and After Again, a landmark exhibition that responds to the tragic slaying of ten members of Buffalo’s Black community on May 14, 2022. To date, the exhibition, which was extended in response to community demand, has been visited by tens of thousands of people. 

For more than two decades, the Art of Jazz series has been recognized as one of the premier jazz events in North America. Now, guests are invited to the Buffalo AKG as this series takes the Sunday jazz experience to a new level, complete with opportunities for brunch, preconcert music, and the best in jazz performance. Experience aweinspiring musical presentations by award winners, competition winners, and some of the most talented artists, composers, and arrangers in jazz. Organized and produced by Tony Zambito, the Art of Jazz series features iconic jazz musicians who have left an indelible mark on the world of jazz.

The Buffalo AKG Art Museum announced that submissions for the 28th annual Art Alive celebration are open until September 13. Art Alive will occur on Saturday, October 19, from noon to 2 pm, and invites participants to create living representations of famous works of art for great prizes. 

More than 300 artworks have been acquired since May 2023, including 178 artworks from the Marisol Bequest.

The Buffalo AKG announced that the museum’s studio art classes for the fall season are now open for registration. Adult classes include live figure drawing and painting, landscape painting with watercolors, clay wheel throwing, and an introduction to stitching. Kids’ classes include building with clay, fun with fibers, and an introduction to making Op art.

Featuring more than 100 works by nearly ninety artists, this major exhibition draws on Buffalo AKG's leading collection of Op art to illuminate the origins of electronic art and culture.

The Buffalo AKG announced the museum’s Public Art Initiative will partner with Stitch Buffalo and local artist Saira Siddiqui (American, born 1991) to create a mural for Stitch Buffalo’s new building at 284 Plymouth Avenue, which is owned by Ellicott Development Company.  

The Buffalo AKG announced that the museum’s Public Art Initiative will sponsor six local artists during the East Side Garden Walk, on July 20 and 21, from 10 am to 4 pm, for plein air artmaking. These six Buffalo-based artists—Emma Brittain, Naija Boles, Stephen Forman Jr. (aka Paulie!), Bree Gilliam, Shanel Kerekes, and Faith Quinn—will produce original works during their two-day residencies.
