Milton Rogovin: The Forgotten Ones
Friday, February 1, 1985–Sunday, March 17, 1985
Milton Rogovin: The Forgotten Ones, the artist’s first major retrospective, celebrated Rogovin’s seventy-fifth birthday and paid tribute to his significant contributions to photography. The eighty-five photographs featured in the exhibition exemplify the artist's direct approach to his subjects. These included images from his series on storefront churches and on the Lower West Side of Buffalo along with photographs made in Appalachia, Chile, France, Scotland, and Spain and his fascinating paired portraits of people at work and at home.
Organized by Associate Curator Cheryl A. Brutvan, Milton Rogovin: The Forgotten Ones later traveled to the Brooklyn Museum.
