Buffalo Humanities Festival Featured Speaker: Dava Sobel, Author of Galileo's Daughter

As a part of the 2016 Buffalo Humanities Festival, Renaissance Remix, critically acclaimed science writer Dava Sobel will speak on "The Rebirth of the Heavens" at the Albright-Knox. Dava Sobel is the author of Longitude: The True Story of a Lone Genius Who Solved the Greatest Scientific Problem of His Time. Her second book, Galileo's Daughter: A Historical Memoir of Science, Faith, and Love, draws from the letters of Galileo Galilei's daughter, the nun Suor Maria Celeste. Galileo’s Daughter was nominated for the 2000 Pulitzer Prize for Biography or Autobiography. Her science writing is known even in the skies—she has an asteroid named after her. Mayor Byron Brown will introduce Dava Sobel.
