How do I become a member?
You can purchase or renew a membership on your next visit at the Visitor Services desks or the Shop, online, or by phone at +1 716 270 8247.
Do you offer membership discounts?
Yes, we offer discounted pricing options for seniors (ages 62 and older) at the Individual, Dual, and Dual Plus membership levels and for students (full-time or part-time) at the Individual membership level. Select your preferred level and discounted pricing option when you join or renew.

Do members receive free admission to museum events?
Buffalo AKG members receive free or discounted admission to events and programs. All members-only events are free for members. Members receive discounted admission to classes, workshops, talks, musical performances, and many special events.
Does my membership allow me to bring guests to the museum?
One-time use admission guest passes are a benefit that all AKG members receive. Quantities of passes vary and increase by membership level.
Guest passes are valid for admission during regular operating hours only. They are not transferrable, and guests must be accompanied at the time of visit to redeem. Multiple passes may be redeemed on one visit.
Your guest pass(es) are automatically loaded onto the primary member’s account. They are deducted as they are redeemed and will reset upon your next membership renewal.
Provide the primary member’s name when checking in for your visit and request to use your available guest pass(es).
Does my membership get me into other museums?
All AKG members receive free/reciprocal admission to more than 30 museums across New York State through the Empire State Museums Reciprocal Program (ESMRP).
Buffalo AKG members at the Associate level and above receive free/reciprocal admission to more than 1,200 museums throughout North America through the Empire State Museums Reciprocal Program, Modern and Contemporary Reciprocal Membership Program, North American Reciprocal Museum (NARM) Association, Museum Alliance Reciprocal Program, and Reciprocal Organization of Associated Museums (ROAM).
Some exceptions may apply. Please contact individual museums directly for information on specific benefits and restrictions. Reciprocal privileges do not include mailings from any participating museums except for the museum with which the member is affiliated.
What level is my membership?
Your membership level is located on the front of your membership card.

Who is included on my membership?
Memberships at the Dual level and above include benefits for two named adults (18+) and any children in the household (17 and under). Members at the Dual Plus level and above may choose to add an additional third adult member to the membership for an additional $25.
How can I update my mailing address or contact information?

I’ve lost my membership card(s). Can I request replacements?
Yes, you may request replacement cards. Please contact us at membership@buffaloakg.org or +1 716 270 8247.
Is my membership tax-deductible?
Your gift of membership may be tax-deductible. We encourage you to clarify the implications of your charitable giving with a professional advisor.
Do members have to make advance reservations?
Members have access to walk-in entry during regular operating hours and must check in at the Visitor Services desks on arrival. However, to ensure you’re able to visit at your preferred date and time, we strongly encourage you to reserve tickets in advance.
Members can reserve admission tickets online up to four weeks before their visit and two weeks before being released to the public. To access this benefit, register or sign in to your account when reserving your tickets online.
How can I renew my membership?
You can renew your membership online, by phone at +1 716 270 8247, or onsite at the Visitor Services desks or the Shop.
When renewing online, please use the “Register” or “Sign in” links in the upper right corner to create or sign in to your online account. This will ensure that we connect your renewal to your current Buffalo AKG member account, and any eligible promotions or discounts will be automatically applied to your transaction.

Do you offer an automatic renewal option for memberships purchased?
Simplify your yearly membership renewal by selecting automatic renewal when you purchase or renew your membership online or by phone at + 1 716 270 8247.
You may opt-out at any time by contacting the membership office at +1 716 270 8247 or membership@buffaloakg.org.
Notification of upcoming payments will be emailed to you prior to your credit card being charged.
Do you offer payment plans for memberships purchased?
Yes, payment plan options are available for levels beginning at Dual Plus and above, as well as Donor Circles members, when renewing by phone at +1 716 270 8247.
I have already renewed my membership; why am I still receiving renewal notices?
Your payment and renewal notice may have crossed paths in the mail. To confirm that we have received your membership payment, please contact us at membership@buffaloakg.org or +1 716 270 8247. Please disregard any notices you receive after your payment has been submitted.
Can I purchase a membership as a gift?
Absolutely! Check the “This membership is a gift” box on our membership form and fill in the information for your gift recipient. If the person receiving the membership is already a member, your gift will add a year to their existing membership. The Buffalo AKG Art Museum offers digital membership cards. Fully integrated with mobile wallets, digital cards provide easy and immediate access to your membership details, helping to reduce plastic usage and printing costs.
Please note: The Buffalo AKG also offers the option for printed cards on request. Please indicate this preference when purchasing your membership.
How do I add the membership card to my iPhone?
Access the email from your smartphone and click the “Download” button, then click “Add to Wallet” and “Add.” The card will automatically sync to your iPhone’s Apple Wallet, and it can be accessed at any time through Apple Wallet.
How do I add the membership card to my Android phone?
Android users need to download Google Wallet. Please note, you do not need the paid version of this app. After you have the app, access the membership email from your smartphone and click the “Download Membership” graphic at the bottom to transfer your membership card to your virtual wallet.
I’m already an active member and did not receive the email to download my card. Where is it?
We recommend double-checking your junk/spam folder, as well as other folders in your inbox (i.e., Promotions, Updates, etc.). You can also search for the email; the sender will be the Buffalo AKG Art Museum. If you are still unable to find the email with the link to download your card(s), please contact the Membership Office at membership@buffaloakg.org.
I renewed or upgraded my membership. Will a new digital membership card be emailed to me?
No. Once you download your digital membership card to your smartphone device, your card will automatically update in your wallet within 24 hours of purchasing your renewal or upgrade. If you notice your digital membership card did not update, refresh your wallet and make sure to toggle on the option to allow automatic updates. You can do this by clicking the three dots or the “i” icon in the top right corner.
What if I don't have access to a smartphone?
If you do not have access to a smartphone, you can still preview your member card online by clicking the link included in the email you received on your computer. You can then print that page to use during future visits.
The Buffalo AKG also offers the option for printed cards on request. Please indicate this preference when purchasing your membership, or contact the Membership Office at membership@buffaloakg.org.
If there are multiple people on my membership, will everyone receive their own digital card?
All members who are named on the account will receive a membership card. Children included on the membership will not receive a card. Guest passes and guest cards will not be available to download. Please check in at a Visitor Services Desk to redeem this benefit.
The digital cards will be sent via email to the primary member. You can forward the email to the second and third named members for them to download their cards. Each membership card can only be downloaded once.
What is the Empire State Museums Reciprocal (ESMRP) logo on my member card?
All AKG members receive complimentary or member admission price, discounts in the gift shop, and discounts on ticketed events* to more than 30 museums across New York State that participate in the Empire State Museums Reciprocal Program (ESMRP). You may use your digital cards to verify your membership and access this member benefit when visiting participating institutions.
What are the NARM, Mod/Co, MARP, and ROAM logos on my member card (only shown at the Associate level and higher)?
Members at the Associate level or higher receive complimentary or member admission price, discounts in the gift shop, and discounts on ticketed events* to more than 1,400 museums and institutions across North America that participate in the following networks, which are also located on the back of your digital card:
• North American Reciprocal Museum (NARM) Association
• Modern and Contemporary Reciprocal Membership Program (Mod/Co)
• Museum Alliance Reciprocal Program (MARP)
• Reciprocal Organization of Associated Museums (ROAM)
You may use your digital card to verify your membership and access this member benefit when visiting participating institutions.
*Be sure to contact the institutions you plan to visit in advance to find out about your specific reciprocal benefits to avoid any confusion.
