2013 Art’scool “Inspired” Exhibition
Friday, May 17, 2013–Sunday, June 9, 2013

Assembled Together, Built to Live Anywhere, at Home Here at Southwestern, a sculpture conceived and built by Renee Mitchener’s 9th–12th grade students at Southwestern Central School in Jamestown. They were inspired by Nancy Rubins’s Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Monochrome I, Built to Live Anywhere, at Home Here, 2010–11.
On View in Clifton Hall
Since Fall 2012, K–12 teachers from throughout Western New York have visited the Albright-Knox with their students and entered our Art’scool “Inspired” contest, making it clear that viewing and discussing art, artmaking, and learning are deeply connected. Each participating class visited the Gallery through our Art’scool program, and a dedicated educator then submitted the artwork students made in response to the visit, related information about activities they did in the classroom, and evidence of connections across curricular disciplines.
This exhibition of selected entries will be on view from Friday, May 17, through Sunday, June 9, 2013. A reception and awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 16, from 4 to 7 pm.
Admission to this exhibition is free on M&T FIRST FRIDAYS @ THE GALLERY
