Virtual Event

Join educators from the Albright-Knox’s Education and Community Engagement department for a guided drawing experience. Inspired by the work of Shantell Martin—including her AK Public Art mural Dance Everyday—participants will learn some basic drawing skills while exploring themes like meditative flow and play.

Bring a pencil, pen, marker, crayon, or whatever you like to draw with; some paper; and your favorite beverage (see below for inspiration)!

This event is full! If you have already registered, please check your email the day of the event for further guidelines on what to prepare and how to join.

Drink Inspiration

"Walk the Line," a drink devised by Assistant Curator Tina Rivers Ryan, should give you plenty of time to draw before needing a refill.

4 oz bubbles (lager beer)
2 oz booze (gin)
1 oz tart (lemon juice)
1 oz sweet (agave syrup)

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the gin, lemon, and agave syrup, and shake vigorously. Pour into a glass and top off with the beer. Garnish with a wedge of fruit, if you’ve got one.

Note: It’s okay to make substitutions to suit the groceries you have and/or your palate—get creative! For example, you can try pale ale or prosecco instead of lager; vodka, tequila, or whiskey instead of gin; lime juice instead of lemon; and maple or simple syrup instead of agave. If you want less alcohol, try ginger ale or seltzer instead of beer. If you’d prefer a stronger drink, skip the beer and change up the ratio, depending on your tastebuds (try 2 oz booze to ¾ oz tart and ¾ oz sweet).
