Lipsey Auditorium, Knox Building

Increased evidence that arts and culture programs contribute to health and well-being suggests the efficacy of cultural expression as a renewable and healing resource in society. This talk will present a brief history and recent trends on how arts and health programs in community settings are evolving to support the overall health, well-being, and vitality of individuals, families, and communities.

Come learn about how local and national policies are supporting these aims through programs like "Creative Forces: the National Endowment for the Arts' Military Healing Arts Network," which partners with the Department of Defense and Veterans Affairs to support healing in community and clinical settings, and the first wave of US doctor prescribed arts interventions.

The event is jointly hosted by the Arts Management Program at the University at Buffalo and the Buffalo AKG Art Museum. This lecture is free and open to the public.
