Collection Highlights

All Collection Highlights
  • Le Matin en Provence (Morning in Provence), ca. 1900-1906

    Paul Cézanne

Similarly short, distinct brushstrokes primarily in cool shades of green and blue coalesce into a sketchily painted landscape; portions of the canvas are visible. A light green field fills much of the bottom third of the canvas, and the sky above, while largely blue, also includes some green areas. A slender, leafless tree rises from the left edge of the field and curves at its top toward the right and downward. A small, light brown house sits on the right edge of the field.
  • Composition No. 11, 1940-42--LONDON, with Blue, Red and Yellow, 1940-1942

    Piet Mondrian

Composition No. 11, 1940-42--LONDON, with Blue, Red and Yellow
  • Reclining Figure, 1935-1936

    Henry Moore

This wooden sculpture could abstractly resemble a reclining female body. The dark brown wood is polished to reveal the wood grain and knots throughout the form. The figure’s legs seem to be gently bent, and she appears to be resting on her elbows, with her head propped upright. The artist left the torso as an empty space, allowing viewers to see through the sculpture.
  • Untitled (The Buffalo Installation), 1991

  • La voix des airs (The Voice of Space), 1928

    René Magritte

La voix des airs (The Voice of Space)
  • Nomad, 1963

    James Rosenquist

What appears to be a collage of unrelated images from advertisements and everyday photographs fills the surface of this large-scale horizontally oriented painting. A massive bowl of spaghetti and meatballs in the bottom right, a gray picnic table slightly above center, and three ballerina legs paired with the words NEW and Oxy at bottom left. A paint-splatted plastic bag tied at the bottom is suspended from the top-left corner of the canvas; a pile of paint-splattered wood scraps lies on the floor below.
  • Frauenbildnis (Portrait of a Woman), 1911

    Ernst Ludwig Kirchner

A black woman in a blue hat and coat of matching color over a brown skirt and white, high-necked blouse stands at the center of this painting. She appears to be standing up from a red-back chair, her left arm extended against an almost neon green form in the background. The bottom portion of a painting depicting nude figures in a landscape is visible behind her head, and the corner of a table covered with a light blue tablecloth fills the bottom right corner of the canvas.
  • D IV, 1922

    László Moholy-Nagy

    D IV
  • Orange Crush, 1963

    Larry Poons

Light blue polka dots randomly pepper the solidly orange-colored surface of this large square canvas. Neat rows of six or seven dots line the painting’s edges. The contrast between the vibrant orange and pale blue creates an optical effect that makes it appear as if the blue dots are vibrating.
