Indian Miniatures was an exhibition of vividly and exuberantly colored paintings gathered from numerous private collections as well as the museum’s collection. Celebrated as the quintessential expression of Indian art, this form of manuscript painting includes a wide range of subject matter, from those prescribed by religious conventions to delicately rendered genre scenes and portraits of nobility and imperial warriors. Included in the exhibition were a number of examples of the Rajput School, which illustrate the mystic poems of India.

This exhibition was organized by Curator Cheryl Brutvan.
