Gamaliel Rodríguez
Gamaliel Rodríguez was born in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, in 1977. His large-scale works on paper depict abandoned structures surrounded by verdant greenery, imagined landscapes that merge industrial and natural environments inspired by the duality of his native country. Rodríguez lives and works in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, and the Bronx, New York. He has exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; SCAD Museum of Art, Savannah; and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. His work is in the collections of major museums including the Whitney, the Cleveland Museum of Art, and the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum, Westchester, Florida, and is featured in the third edition of Vitamin D3: today’s best in contemporary drawing (Phaidon Books, 2021).
