One of the most photographed works at the museum lately has been Dan Flavin's luminous untitled (to Donna) 6, 1971, on view in our 1962 Building. We love seeing how you capture light, reflections, and silhouettes in and around the work. We also love seeing you show off your dance moves, with many of you noting comparisons to the music video for Drake's "Hotline Bling," which was actually inspired by the work of artist James Turrell.
According to Flavin, "The 'Donna' [Donna Vaccarino] of the dedication is a young, handsome, intelligent Angelino who has worked with the Ace Gallery and in filmmaking. It seems to me that the difficult, somewhat vulgar pink, yellow, and blue that I've combined for these installations could be located somewhere, anywhere, in Los Angeles."
We hope you'll be inspired by these photos and come to the museum to take and share your own!
We plan to keep sharing photos from you, our visitors, in the future. Please use the hashtag #albrightknox when posting photos of the Albright-Knox if you'd like to be considered. (We'll always double check with you for permission before posting.)
