The artworks in this exhibition were created by a diverse group of participants in the Albright-Knox’s Access AK programs: Creative Connection, Veterans Connecting through Art, and Verbal Description Sensory Tours.
The Access AK programs are designed to provide meaningful engagement for visitors of varied abilities, through viewing and making art. Each program is uniquely formatted to allow for the participants to express themselves both verbally and nonverbally in the embrace of the museum. The Access AK programs offer customized tours of the museum’s Collection, which are followed by hands-on art workshops.
The Albright-Knox’s Collection of modern and contemporary art provides endless opportunities for the participants to engage with thought-provoking works. The artworks featured in Empowered Expression are the continuation of a conversation initiated in the museum. They can be seen as both a visual manifestation of the participants’ responses to the works they viewed and a reflection of each person’s inspired perspective.
Admission to this community exhibition is free on M&T FIRST FRIDAYS @ THE GALLERY.
