The Albright-Knox Art Gallery is recognized as having one of the world’s most important collections of contemporary and modern art. With more than 7,000 works in its collection and a dynamic series of exhibitions and public programs, the museum continues to grow and to fulfill its mission.

Founded as The Buffalo Fine Arts Academy in 1862, the Albright-Knox is the sixth-oldest public art museum in the United States and one of the oldest museums anywhere dedicated to the art of our time. Acquiring the finest examples of contemporary creative expression has been the museum’s focus for more than a century and a half. The Albright-Knox is committed to maximizing the economic and social impact of the museum as a vibrant hub where people from all walks of life can connect with art, ideas, and one another.

The Albright-Knox's Elmwood Avenue campus is currently closed for construction. The new Buffalo AKG Art Museum is expected to open in the first half of 2023.
