Ekphrastic Writing with Just Buffalo Literary Center
Saturday, February 29, 2020
1 pm - 3 pm EST
During this creative writing workshop for all ages, participants will create family and community histories inspired by the works on view in Open House: Domestic Thresholds by Heather Hart, Edra Soto, and Rodney Taylor, which features abstract renderings of home. Through prose or verse, we will fill in blank spaces.
First, we’ll walk the space as a group, take time with each work, and discuss what strikes us—what attributes we recognize in each artist’s style. Participants will then spend time walking the space on their own, taking notes on which works grab their attention. Participants will pick one work to focus on and articulate on paper what it inspires in them. We will write through our emotional responses and share our findings.
