Collection Highlights

All Collection Highlights
  • Portrait (R. Eisch), 1999

    Thomas Ruff

The head and shoulders of a white adult male with short brunette hair, blue eyes, and a reddish-brown goatee beard and moustache fill the majority of this large-scale color photograph. He wears a pale blue button-up shirt with a collar; the top-most button is left open. Minute details in the figure’s skin and shadows on the fabric are captured by the camera lens.
  • Corazón de roca con sangre (Heart of Rock with Blood), 1975

    Ana Mendieta

First of two images. Still from a video of the artist naked on the banks of a river, which is just visible in the upper-right corner of the image. She kneels on the leaf-covered ground, staring at the silhouette of a female figure dug into the earth in shallow relief.
  • Couple II, 1996

    Louise Bourgeois

    Couple II
  • Portrait de Mlle Rose Caron (Portrait of Rose Caron), ca. 1892

    Edgar Degas

A woman wearing a low-cut pink evening dress and elbow-length gloves sits at the center of this horizontally oriented painting. What appears to be a multicolored furred or feathered garment rests on the back of her red chair. Her face, oriented left, is largely obscured by shadow. She clutches a folded fan in her right hand and adjusts the top of her left hand. The entire scene is loosely painted in a palette dominated by dark greens and yellows.
  • Flood, 2007

    Barnaby Furnas

Long, thick, horizontal strokes of paint ranging in hue from black to bright magenta span the pale blue background of this abstract painting. In the upper right corner, the background emerges behind a light spray and thin drips of red paint. A faint white vertical line, like a narrow beam of light, stretches from the center of the canvas’s top toward the bottom but is quickly subsumed under the horizontal strokes.
  • 100 Cans, 1962

    Andy Warhol

The front-facing, red, gold, and white labels of one hundred cans of Campbell’s Condensed Beef Noodle Soup fill this vertically oriented canvas. The cans are organized in a tight grid of ten rows and ten columns. The bottoms of the last row of cans are cut off so that only the upper halves of these cans are visible.
  • La Maison de La Crau (The Old Mill), 1888

    Vincent van Gogh

Loose thick brushstrokes in a vibrant palette define a rural scene beneath a turquoise green sky. On the right is a tall sandy colored building with a yellow roof and brownish-red chimney. Steps leads from the structure toward the left-hand side of the image, where, two people stand in front of a purple fence. Beyond the fence and toward the upper left of the image are green fields dotted with small houses and blue mountains in the far distance.
  • Danseuse au café (Dancer in a Café), 1912

    Jean Metzinger

Danseuse au café (Dancer in a Café)
  • Still Life on a Mantelpiece, ca. 1923

    Georges Braque
