About the Carol McLaughlin Jazz Quintet!

Mr. Carol McLaughlin was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and has over 40 years of experience performing all over the world, bringing joy and excitement wherever he plays. Carol's main instruments are the saxophone and flute, which he uses to tantalize the audience with a cross of jazz standards and his own original music. Carol has a 5-piece band that performs in the smaller club settings and a 17-piece big band, which plays the classics of the big band era.

Carol has performed with artists such as Ruth Brown, Brook Benton, ZZ Hill, Johnny Mathis, and Sammy Davis Jr. He has also sat in with Dizzie Gillespie, Hank Crawford, Joe Sample, Stan Getz, Jimmie Heath, Freddie Cole, Erni Krivda, and worked with the Buffalo Workshop, Al Tinnie and Sam Falzone. He teaches at the Community Music School of Buffalo and is a lifetime member of the Colored Musicians Club, Jazz Museum, and of the old AMF-Local 533 Union.
