Yvette Mayorga

Yvette Mayorga (b. 1991) is a Chicago-based multidisciplinary artist known for her Rococo-inspired reliefs that merge confectionary labor with found images to explore themes of belonging. As a first-generation Latinx artist, she makes pink-dominated work that celebrates femme power while questioning the allure of consumer culture and the American Dream. Mayorga’s work has been shown in group exhibitions at the Museum of Arts and Design, New York, and the Vincent Price Art Museum, Monterey Park, California, and she has had solo exhibitions at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Ridgefield, Connecticut (2024), and The Momentary at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Bentonville, Arkansas (2022). Her works are in the collections of 21c Museum Hotels, Louisville, Kentucky; Crystal Bridges; El Museo del Barrio, New York; and the City of Chicago’s permanent public art collection at O’Hare International Airport. She has been featured in Artforum, ARTnews, DAZED, and many other publications.

Yvette Mayorga, nacida en 1991, es una artista multidisciplinaria que vive en Chicago. Es conocida por sus relieves con influencia rococó que combinan la decoración de pasteles con imágenes encontradas para explorar temas de pertenencia. Como artista latinx de primera generación, crea obras en las que predomina el rosa y se celebra el poder femenino a la vez que se cuestiona la seducción de la cultura de consumo y el sueño americano.
