Moises Salazar (b. 1996) was raised and is based in Chicago. Salazar has stated, “My existence as a nonbinary first-generation Mexican American creates a state of conflict within my identity, and this tension is the most prevalent influence in my practice.” Inspired by fashion and drag culture, Salazar uses embellishments, fabrics, and textures combined with traditional Mexican craft techniques in conceptual and installation-based work. Salazar has exhibited nationally and internationally, including at WOAW Gallery, Hong Kong; Salón ACME 8, Mexico City; and the MCA Chicago. An inaugural solo exhibition opened at Mindy Solomon Gallery, Miami, in 2021. Salazar’s work has been featured in The Hispanic Executive, Artnet, and Hyperallergic. Salazar has been a resident in The Hyde Park Art Center Residency, Chicago, and is a recipient of the Luminarts Foundation Arts Fellowship, the 3Arts Make a Wave Grant, and a finalist for the QUEER|ART|PRIZE.

Moises Salazar Tlatenchi, nació en 1996. Creció en Chicago, donde reside en la actualidad. Sobre su trabajo afirmó: «Mi existencia como mexicano-estadounidense no binario de primera generación produce un estado conflictivo en mi identidad y esta tensión es la influencia más importante en mi práctica».
