Join us for a virtual screening of a film selected by artist Ronny Quevedo for its relationship to the themes of Comunidades Visibles: The Materiality of Migration.
DreamTown is a documentary about the precarious dream of a young Afro-Ecuadorian soccer player, Anibal Chala, as he strives to make it to the professional leagues, and eventually sees his dreams become reality. This coming-of-age story follows Anibal over the span of six years, from the youth minor leagues until he secures a place on Ecuador’s First Division team, ranking among the country’s top 10 players at the young age of 17.

About the Series
Join the Albright-Knox for a series of virtual film screenings inspired by the themes of the special exhibition Comunidades Visibles: The Materiality of Migration. Throughout this series, participants will hear from community speakers and educators who are exploring the ways narratives around migration, as well as personal and communal histories, are discussed through various media. DreamTown es un documental sobre el sueño precario de un joven futbolista afroecuatoriano, Aníbal Chala, mientras se esfuerza por llegar a las ligas profesionales y, finalmente, ve cómo sus sueños se hacen realidad.
