Join us for Buffalo’s most creative happy hour! After Hours is a program designed to take you behind the scenes at the Buffalo AKG with innovative, informative, and sometimes unexpected ways to connect with the museum and fellow art lovers. Get closer to the collection and revitalized campus, and enjoy complimentary beverages, light snacks, and conversation.

Latinx artists and their stories, identities, and cultures deserve to be celebrated—so what’s taking the art world so long to catch up? Prominent in the exhibition Let Us Gather in a Flourishing Way are the deep complexities of Latinx Art—a field born out of the necessity to platform artists of the diaspora. As Latinx artistry continues to flourish and evolve, so does the advocacy and scholarship of those seeking greater representation in the contemporary art world.

Join colleagues Andrea Alvarez, PhD, Curator at the Buffalo AKG Art Museum, and Claudia Zapata, PhD, Associate Curator of Latino Art at the Blanton Museum of Art, in conversation around the artists, trends, and politics that shape contemporary Latinx art. Learn more about the field’s history and scholarship while discovering the abundance that is hallmark to Latinx artists and their creative practices.
