Born in Tijuana in 1965, Salomón Huerta lives and works in Los Angeles. He is best known for his series of paintings depicting anonymous subjects who sit or stand with their backs to the viewer. His more recent works include portraiture, still lifes, shimmering pools, and suburban houses in luminous colors. Huerta has exhibited at the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; the National Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.; and the Whitney Biennial, and has had a solo exhibition at the Austin Museum of Art. His paintings are in the collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the MCA San Diego, among others.
