Lilian Garcia-Roig (b. 1966) is a Cuba-born, Texas-raised artist based in Tallahassee, Florida, and Kerhonkson, New York. While crossing different media and forms, her art is filtered through her experience of the travel restrictions imposed by both the U.S. and the Cuban governments. Her works connect to place and dwell on how the intersection of power, knowledge, discovery, and loss have shaped both global and personal histories. She has exhibited internationally, including at the Museo Universitario del Chopo, Mexico City; the Americas Society, New York; and the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C. She is the recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship, the Joan Mitchell Painting Award, and the Florida Individual Artist Fellowship, and has had residencies at Skowhegan, MacDowell, and the Ludwig Foundation in Havana. In 2023–24, she was the Robert O. Lawton Distinguished Professor at Florida State University.
