Danie Cansino

Lives and works in Los Angeles

Artist and educator Danie Cansino (b. 1986) lives and works in Los Angeles. She produces bold chiaroscuro oil paintings and vividly rendered ballpoint drawings on loose-leaf paper mounted to panel. She describes her work as a love letter to her family, city, and culture, and a remembrance of the suffering of the Chicanx and Latinx people of Los Angeles. Cansino has exhibited in the Rubell Museum, Miami; the Long Beach Museum of Art; and the Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center, Anaheim, among other venues. Her work has been featured in Artforum, Artillery Magazine, and ARTnews and also resides in numerous private and public collections. Cansino is an Adjunct Professor at the USC Roski School of Art and Design.

La artista y educadora Danie Cansino, nacida en 1986, vive y trabaja en Los Ángeles. Crea audaces pinturas al óleo en claroscuro y dibujos con bolígrafo con gran intensidad cromática en hojas de papel sueltas que monta sobre paneles. Describe su obra como una carta de amor a su familia, ciudad y cultura, y como recuerdo del sufrimiento de chicanxs y latinxs en Los Ángeles.
