Perspective is a highly deliberated topic. The many connotations of the idea call to mind both subjective emotions and a physical point of view. From the angle at which a subject is photographed to the illusion of dimension on a flat canvas, physical perspectives are an indelible aspect of art, as determined by the artist. Personal viewpoints, alternatively, can be transformed based on one’s experience. Although an artist’s frame of reference may differ from that of the observer, viewers’ perspectives inevitably inform their interpretations. Viewpoint does not define perspective as falling solely into these two distinct categories but rather explores the communication between them.

This exhibition is organized by the 2016 Future Curators.

About the 2016 Future Curators

The 2016 Future Curators team is made up of 19 students in grades 11 and 12: Kyle Baillargeon (Niagara Falls High School), Madison Bean (Nichols School), Olivia Carney (Lewiston-Porter High School), Clare Corbett (City Honors School), Claudia D'Auria (Nichols School), Hannah Emminger (Kenmore East High School), Eva Erickson (Williamsville East High School), Chloe Everett (Homeschool), Malika Kodial (Williamsville East High School), Benjamin Lojacono (St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute), Augusta Morgan (Lewiston-Porter High School), Vivien Pearce (Nardin Academy), Axel Sack (Park School of Buffalo), Uma Samudrala (Lewiston-Porter High School), Amanda Simone (Orchard Park High School), DesRee Taylor (Royalton-Hartland High School), Emyle Watkins (Springville-Griffith High School), Malia Williamson (Charter High School for Applied Technologies), Emily Wilson (Niagara Falls High School).

Beginning in January 2016, this creative team of young aspiring art professionals has been learning what goes on behind the scenes at the Albright-Knox and using the museum's collection and current exhibitions to begin thinking about art from the mindset of a curator.
