From 1999 to 2019, the Albright-Knox hosted the Art of Jazz series, establishing the museum’s auditorium as one of the premier venues to experience live jazz in North America. This landmark series presented some of the brightest international jazz stars—from Grammy Award– and poll-winners to the next generation of jazz legends, including Bill Frisell & Thomas Morgan Duo, Bill Charlap Trio, Melissa Aldana, Joe Lovano, Billy Childs Quartet, Cécile McLorin Salvant, Ambrose Akinmusire, and Carla Bley.
The Albright-Knox closed in November 2019 to commence construction to become the Buffalo AKG Art Museum. Due to this closure, the Art of Jazz series relocated to Kleinhans Music Hall in 2020, but two concerts were cancelled that year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Art of Jazz at the Philharmonic series will return in 2022, including two of the concerts cancelled in 2020, and introducing two additional performers for a four-concert series. The first concert, “The Campbell Brothers Present John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme,” will be on Sunday, February 6, at 3 pm. Albright-Knox members receive a $5 discount on individual tickets with promo code AKG5 and a 20% discount on series tickets with promo code AKGSERIES. Learn More
