Jiří Kolář: Transformations presented a collection of works from more than 35 years of Kolář’s artistic career that showcased his unique talent as a poet, painter, writer, playwright, and artist. The Albright-Knox was the first American museum to acquire one of Kolář’s works; La Direction, 1963, was a gift of Seymour H. Knox, Jr.
The exhibition was organized and first held at the Albright-Knox. It then traveled to the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, and to the University of Georgia Museum of Art, Athens.
