In this hands-on drop-in workshop inspired by Steina’s groundbreaking video work, staff from Squeaky Wheel Film and Media Art Center will facilitate creative play using modern digital video processing apps. Cameras will capture live video from a “movement zone” where visitors can move and play in front of a backdrop; this video signal is then sent to a computer. Visitors of all ages will be shown how to use digital “knobs” in the apps to manipulate the video feed in real time, mix it with found video footage, and create unique and unexpected abstracted visuals. These visuals will be projected on a large screen for all visitors to experience.
